Lip filler uses injectable hyaluronic acid gel to add volume, define the lip border, or correct asymmetry in the lips. Because hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the body, the effect is temporary and reversible — results typically last 6–12 months before the gel gradually breaks down and is absorbed, after which treatment can be repeated or discontinued. This also means an enzyme can be used to dissolve the filler early if a patient is unhappy with the result, which is one reason it's a popular, lower-commitment entry point for patients new to injectables.
