Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) removes or repositions excess skin, muscle, and fat around the upper and/or lower eyelids, addressing a tired, heavy, or aged appearance around the eyes — and, in more advanced cases, upper eyelid skin that droops enough to interfere with vision. It's one of the more common facial rejuvenation procedures, often performed on its own or alongside a brow lift or facelift.
Upper eyelid surgery removes excess skin and fat through an incision hidden in the natural eyelid crease. Lower eyelid surgery addresses under-eye bags and loose skin, sometimes through an incision just below the lash line or, in cases without excess skin, from inside the eyelid (transconjunctival) leaving no visible scar at all.
Good candidates are in good general eye health, with realistic expectations that the procedure refreshes the eye area rather than changing its fundamental shape.
